Sciatica Can Take Over Every Part of Your Day

The shooting pain down your leg, the numbness that won’t quit, the fear that you’ll make it worse by moving — sciatica does more than hurt. If any of this hits close to home, you’re in the right place.

The Pain Won't Let Up Body

Whether it’s a sharp, shooting sensation down your leg or a constant ache that disrupts your sleep, sciatica has a way of making even the simplest tasks feel impossible.

The Treatments Haven't Worked Body

You’ve tried rest, medication, maybe even injections. But the relief never lasts. Without addressing the root cause of your pain, it just keeps coming back.

You're Missing Out on Your Life Body

Long car rides, morning runs, playing with your kids — sciatica is keeping you on the sideline. You deserve a plan that gets you back to the activities that matter most.

"When I first started, I was at risk of missing family Christmas because I couldn't endure a car ride. Now I've been pain free for about a year. I was not functional when I came in here — but ever since, I've been able to maintain normal life with my family."

Praneeth is fantastic in both his approach to PT and his conversation. He truly offers a personalized experience. I read loads of reviews from various PT facilities before visiting Praneeth and the most common complaint was that people get bounced around to different therapists who may or may not be knowledgeable of their condition. This is absolutely not the case with Journey. Every session was directly with Praneeth and there were no other patients in the room. Two thumbs up and ten stars. Highly recommended.

  • I’ve been going to Praneeth for physical therapy for the last 2 years to address various sports injuries, from shoulder to ankle trauma. He is always accommodating to my busy schedule and takes time to provide the best care possible. As a competitive and professional athlete, it’s reassuring to have someone who can relate to and is knowledgeable about ankle injuries and competitive sports from personal experiences and working with other athletes. Praneeth is easy going and is always willing to answer questions or provide exercises and suggestions on how best to work on stability and strengthening outside of therapy. Thanks for all that you do!

I highly recommend coming to Dr. Praneeth for your physical Therapy needs. You get the personal dedicated care that you might not receive at one of the "chain" locations located in the city. Not only was he very knowledgeable and helpful in my treatment, but he was also very friendly and easy to chat with during our sessions.

  • I am not in the middle of my second session of PT with Praneeth and after about a month of PT, my shoulder is remarkably better than it was and feeling close to 100%. Previously, I came to Praneeth for a pinched nerve and that hasn't resurfaced (in 4 years) after he fixed it... Clearly, Praneeth is quite skilled in what he does. But also, he's a great guy who cares about his patients first. I have another relative who went to him and 'discovered' him before I went my first time and he fixed her up too... It seems that we have found a PT gem in the city. This isn't corporate and Praneeth is the man...!

Dr. Praneeth Purimetla at Journey Physical Therapy at 2250 West Belmont in Chicago, Illinois has helped me rehab from hip replacement. Additionally, he has helped me avoid back surgery and painful injections through his expert analysis of the neuro-mechanical problem afflicting my lumbar spine. His recommended physical regimen has resulted in the disappearance of the painful muscular spasms and arthritic pain afflicting the area of my right femur and knee. Dr. Purimetla understands the complicated inter-relatedness of the muscles, bones, and nerves of the human body. He uses his understanding and experience coupled with logic to guide patients to self-healing through the disciplined use of an appropriate physical regimen. Finally, Dr. Purimetla's professionalism and humanity are a blessing to all. He is truly a good (if not great) man. Sincerely, Ronald Ford Chicago, Illinois

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about sciatica treatment at Journey PT? Here are the ones we hear most.

No referral is needed. Journey Physical Therapy operates as a direct access provider, which means you can schedule an evaluation and begin treatment right away — without seeing a physician first. If your condition falls outside our scope of practice, we’ll refer you to the appropriate specialist.

Your first visit is a thorough, one-on-one evaluation with Dr. Purimetla. He’ll assess your movement, identify what’s contributing to your pain, and begin building a personalized treatment plan around your specific goals. First visits typically run about 45 minutes.

It depends on the severity and duration of your sciatica. Some patients notice meaningful improvement in just a few visits, while others with longer-standing conditions may need a more extended plan. Dr. Purimetla re-evaluates your progress regularly to make sure your care is moving in the right direction.

Yes. Journey Physical Therapy works with most private insurance plans and Medicare. Self-pay options are also available — a 60-minute session is $200 for self-pay patients. Reach out before your first visit and we can help you verify your benefits.

The biggest difference is continuity. You’ll work one-on-one with Dr. Purimetla every single session — no aides, no shared appointments, no rotating therapists. Research consistently shows this kind of focused, consistent care leads to better outcomes and lower overall healthcare costs.

We’re happy to talk through what’s going on and help you figure out your next step.
